Madhubani - A name formed by two Hindi words “Madhu” and “Ban” which means forest of honey. It is believed that there was a huge forest area covered for production of honey by honey-bees.

Madhubani district is among thirty eight districts of Bihar state of India. It is a part of Darbhanga division. It became a district in 1972 after splitting from Darbhanga district. The place holds a great history and a very rich heritage & culture of ancient Mithila kingdom. Madhubani is worldwide famous for a very beautiful art known as “MADHUBANI PAINTING” also known as “MITHILA PAINTING”. It is a major export center of these paintings. These paintings depicts the events performed by the people in various activities including the traditions followed by them and their lifestyle specially on the occasion of birth, marriage, death, festivals etc. These are made by twigs, brushes and various other materials made by natural objects like bamboo stick, thread, flowers and vegetable leaves etc. Madhubani is also surrounded by various tourist & religious places like Saurath, Bhawanipur, Navlakha Rajnagar Palace, Kapileshwarsthan, Uchaitha etc. The Navlakha Palace of Rajnagar was built by Maharaja Rameshwar Singh who was the younger brother of Maharaja Kameshwar Singh of Darbhanga.

DBG Film Club has been organizing Darbhanga International Film Festival every year since 2013 in Darbhanga which is the cultural capital of Bihar.

Keeping same perspective the organization has taken an initiative of Madhubani Film Festival aiming to connect the rural areas of state of Bihar and its nearby region with healthy & good cinema to encourage & promote the art, culture, literature, heritage etc of Bihar. Our endeavor is to bridge the regional cinema with the national and international cinema keeping the prospect as to raise the level of technology, creativity, innovation etc on the broad level. We are devoted towards the budding film makers from our region to encourage their skills and spread awareness regarding the “art of filmmaking”.

It could also help in the commercialization of the area to make it grow financially in the field of cinema which will subsequently help in establishing and growing the regional film industry.
